Welcome to Mathematics VIII
Complex Analysis, Differential Geometry and Algebraic Geometry
There are two main branches of research at Mathematics VIII. On the one hand problems in complex geometry are studied using analytic and differential geometric techniques. The questions mostly come from birational geometry. The other branch is more classical algebraic geometry and is mostly concerned with algebraic surfaces. The methods used here are of an algebraic and topological nature.
The individual research interest of Mathematics VIII include:
-
L2 metrics on direct images of relative canonical bundles
-
Estimates for the Monge-Ampère operator
-
Extension Theorems and applications to algebraic geometry
-
Algebraic surfaces and their classification
-
Moduli spaces
-
Group actions on curves and higher dimensional varieties
The Professors at Mathematics VIII are Prof. Dr. Mihai Păun (Chair), Prof. Dr. Ingrid Bauer, Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Catanese and Prof. Dr. Michael Lönne.
